Memorable Moments:

  • This was the first time we left the camera alone in a room for company interviews. They were beautiful!

  • We tried a new thing backstage where soloists would speak their mic color into the mic backstage so that Doug could bring the level up... well... instructions got a bit confused and we ended up having soloists randomly saying colors on stage! Haha... it was a nice try, but we'll stick to other methods from now on!

Memorable Moments:

  • This was Express Company's first ever Benefit Concert and it went so well!

  • In addition to lots of dancing by The Center's Express Company, we had performances from Irish dancers, singing harpists, acoustic guitar-playing vocalists, acting singers, and The Center's Inspire, Reach, Work, and Dream Companies.

Memorable Moments:

  • Even though this was not a performance by The Center's performers, it was The Center's first ever night performance as a music venue!

  • The Foreground's show was AMAZING with lights and sound mixed by our very own Douglas Ballash. The rock vibe was palpable! The room was alive with energy from Trevor Larsen and The Vandigue when suddenly all went black, and in a deep blue, foggy-haze Skitch played his first chord on the keys to screams from the crowd. Ampee's drums came in under orange light, Kale's base was lit red, then back to blue and a white spotlight on Jon as he sang the first line of the opener, "I Am the Architect." On cue from the lyric "Here I go..." things really kicked up and the foggy room was lit by streams of colored lights; we knew we were there for a SHOW!

Each show was unique!

Memorable Moments:

  • We had a live band, The Foreground, performing with us during the 5pm and 7pm shows.

  • Express Company, The Foreground, and Doug were up late the night of dress rehearsal rehearsing a number because someone had dropped out at the last minute. (Note to future stars: DON'T EVER DROP OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE!!!) However, we made some serious lemonade out of lemons. Filling holes in choreography until 1am turned out to be a huge bonding experience. Everyone was getting silly; the band was singing in crazy voices, the dancers were laughing at everything... it was hard work but FUN work, and the number, "Reflect, Evolve, Inspire", ended up being a crowd favorite.

Performances took place at our home in The Center's Warehouse Theatre

Our company members as well as a few special guests sang, danced, played, and acted.

Memorable Moments:

  • The lights died during dress rehearsal... died dead... and we were scrambling for 24 hours straight trying to fix them to no avail.  (It was the toggle that connects the lighting to the computer and no one sold them anywhere in town.)  The show started late and the audience waited in the lobby as Mr. Doug hovered over their seats on his big ladder striving to make something, anything, work!  We made due without our beautiful stage lighting; the show must go on!  It went really great in spite of a lot of flipping of old fashioned light switches back stage!

  • Company members sat in a big circle on stage before dress rehearsal and talked about how they could see the good in or be the good in the world.  Such sweet things were said and we caught some amazing memories on camera.  It was a great moment!

Performances took place at our home in The Center's Warehouse Theatre

WORK Company prepared their very own summer-themed showcase and presented it a couple of weekends before recital.  This production written by our company director, Halee Ballash.  It was full of dance, song, and acting and was costumed, titled, produced, and more by the performers themselves!

Friday, June 19th at 7:00pm
Saturday, June 20th at 7:00pm
Monday, June 22nd at 7:00pm

Performances took place at our home in The Center's Warehouse Theatre

The first-ever opportunity for audiences to sample what the students of our classes had been working on all year.  Opening with "1" Singular Sensation and closing with "1" Small Voice that could teach the world a song, this show was "1" of a kind.

Memorable Moments:

  • A little boy was auditing a ballet class throughout the season and had learned the entire ballet routine. However, he was not officially in the recital piece for that class. During recital when he heard the music he just could not help himself. Even though he was already dressed for the dance he WAS supposed to be in (as a handsome prince charming no less) he decided to slip past the backstage helpers and rush out onto the stage a few counts late. We had girls in tutus, two boys in the correct costume, and one tiny prince charming on stage. However, he danced the entire routine like a champ!

  • Our opening number featured light-up ties. Company members stood on stage in the dark and pressed a button to change the flashing of the ties in syncopation with the music. It was quite the presentation, and a great way to start the show.

VOLUNTEER

Right now we are seeking volunteers for technical help, ushering, childcare, costuming, and more for our shows in June.  Please let us know if you might be available to help out backstage.

We are always looking for lobby performers to liven up our corriders and to make our home feel more homey!  Or maybe you want to participate in one of our stage performances- either behind the scenes or on stage?  A lot goes on behind the scenes and we would love to access your many and varied skills.  Contact us for more information about how to get involved.  Have another strength worth sharing?  Let's talk.
